Ismaries Designs

Jules and Ismarie put a blog together about their experiences with our last photoshoot and what it means to be rabbit hearted girls:

Rabbit Hearted Girls means everything to me because I get to work with some amazing women who have different ideas. I love the way we empower each other through our work. Rabbit Hearted Girls taught me how to be a strong woman because I had strong women around me and for that I’m very thankful.

If I could give one piece of advice to girls younger than me it would be that you need to love yourself first before you can love anyone else.

What makes me feel beautiful?
No has ever asked me this question before but I think what makes me feel beautiful is the love I feel for the people in my life. I grew up in a broken home so to finally have people I can call family makes me feel beautiful because my love for them will never end.
— Jules
As women we shouldn’t be tearing each other down we need to build each other up.
— Jules
I think what makes Ismarie beautiful is how she wants to make other women feel beautiful in their own skin, I love her for that. As a woman I struggle sometime in my own skin so to see someone trying to make change is a beautiful person to me.
— Jules
I think what makes Ismania beautiful is her strength, she’s been through a lot and I love how she comes out on top every time. Everything she goes through, she inspires others and shows that it does get better you just need leave it up to God.
— Jules
I want to continue to make work with Rabbit Hearted Girls, I love working with my sister and the girls and hopefully we can inspire a lot of women through the work we are doing.

Modeling Ismarie’s clothes makes me feel beautiful and that’s one of the thing I love about doing this. As rabbit hearted girls we want women to feel beautiful and loved. I use to think sisterhood wasn’t that important but that all changed once I started working with three ass kicking ladies. The sisterhood I have with these ladies, I hope it never changes, hopefully we can help other girls form thier own sisterhoods.

One of the things I've learned from Curtis boosted my creativity in designing my clothes. Drawing my ideas on paper before I use scissors to shape the fabric into the style desired helped me realize that it's the best way to save my ideas when I get inspired at times.

My inspiration behind these outfits comes from my Haitian cultural background, where a lot of people get inspired through art, creating useful and beautiful things out of anything that's useless for others; Like creating beads out of cereal boxes to makes jewelry, that's where I got my idea of using an unfamiliar and colorful fabric to design something attractively beautiful. Projecting the old-school style Haitians use to dress up; but designed in a more sophisticated way.
I chose these fabrics because they remind me of how colorful Haiti is. The fabrics also have a little African style which is the root of where the people of Haiti came from, explained in Haitian history. I believe that they all have a little of African in their genes.

My favorite thing about working with the Rabit Hearted Girls is the way we all share one thing, our ‘sisterly Love’, with that Love, everything else that comes through makes the work we do so fun and worth doing with more enthusiasm.
— Ismarie
My goals for the future is to see my clothes on every young woman who is willing to share the sisterly love the Rabit Hearted Girls have all over the world. Every young woman who believes in the power of beauty with the dignity and value they have to never let people look down on them
— Ismarie
I am really proud of sharing my talents with the world, but most importantly I am proud of being one of the Rabit Hearted Girls.
— Ismarie
I dont think I can say anything that will add to what has already been said but I agree with Ismarie, I am so proud to be one of these rabbit hearted girls.
when we decided to start working together and building a platform for self-expression that celebrates diverse beauty and girls with vision I jumped in with both feet and it has been without a doubt the most rewarding and empowering experience. I have learned more from these girls than anything else I have ever been apart of. I am grateful for the beauty that shines through them and teaches others to see the world differently.
