I met EagleSon at Pike Place Market when I had just moved back to Seattle. I had no idea when I met him that his family is carved into the history and land of Seattle. Once, He brought photographs to show me, of him carving when he was a kid. When I saw the photographs I realized carving was something deeper than art making.
I had no idea how much deeper.

In October, EagleSon and his father, Rick Williams, decided to make a website telling their story and sharing their totem poles. I helped by putting these things into Squarespaces platform. It was in October that EagleSon began borrowing my gear to photograph totem poles, family photographs, and all the other photography you will find on the website. It has taken months of work and deliberation for him. After generations of people writing about his family and their lives it was finally his turn to be able to tell their story.
