Best of 2016: Wedding & Engagements
I want to wrap up 2016 on the blog by expressing my deepest gratitude to everyone who booked a session, booked a wedding or worked with Rabbit Hearted Girls this year.
We are thankful for everyone who trusted our vision and gave us grace as we built our business organically. We took big risks this past year both personally and professionally. I quit my day-job in social services to travel and photograph full time. We dreamed of an ambitious project that would document life in communities we cared about by equipping the youth there with the tools to tell their own story. We started to build with small projects that highlighted love, beauty and sisterhood by working with girls in our own community. Jules learned photography from the very beginning by shooting only on manual settings and practicing ISO, aperture and shutter speed at every session. I taught with Cameras for Kids on Pine Ridge to better understand film photography programing. We are in the process of making our goal of teaching photography together in Haiti a reality and we are excited to see what 2017 will bring.
We expanded our idea of what was possible in our business by working with other creatives, makers and social entrepreneurs who inspired us. Jules and I both moved around the country buying plane tickets and gallons of gasoline to follow our hearts.
We are going to be posting a series of blogs in the coming weeks but we wanted to kick them all off with the deepest thank you to all of our couples who made this year possible and gave us the courage to dream.
